Vetmedin® (Pimobendan) Chewable Tablets 1.25 mg x 50

Vetmedin (pimobendan) is a prescription inodilator indicated for the management of congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs due to atrioventricular valvular insufficiency (AVVI/MMVD) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). As the first of its class, Vetmedin works through two complementary mechanisms: it opens blood vessels to reduce the workload on the heart and directly strengthens the heart muscle to improve pumping efficiency. Clinical studies have shown Vetmedin to extend life expectancy and improve quality of life in dogs with CHF.

• Use Only Under Vet Supervision: Typical dosage is 0.23 mg/lb (0.5 mg/kg) body weight per day, divided into two doses approximately 12 hours apart. Tablets are scored for accurate dosing.

• Contraindications/Cautions: Not for use in dogs with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, aortic stenosis, or other conditions where increased cardiac output is inappropriate. Safety not established in dogs under 6 months, pregnant or nursing bitches, or those with congenital heart defects or severe metabolic disease.

• Feline Safety: Safety and effectiveness not established in cats.

• Storage: Store at 68–77°F (20–25°C). Keep in a secure location out of reach of children and other animals.

• Regulatory: Prescription required; federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
