Sucralfate is a veterinary prescription gastroprotectant used in dogs, cats, and horses. It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal ulcers, erosions, and esophagitis. Sucralfate works by forming a protective barrier over damaged mucosa, shielding it from stomach acid, bile salts, and enzymes, which promotes healing and relieves discomfort.
