Metacam® Oral Suspension 1.5 mg/mL – 32 mL

Metacam (meloxicam) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for oral use in dogs over 6 months of age. It is used to control pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and other bone and joint diseases. Metacam also offers benefits such as fever reduction, improved mobility, and enhanced quality of life. The suspension comes with a graduated syringe for accurate dosing by weight and can be given directly into the dog’s mouth or mixed with food.

• Class: NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug).

• Indication (Dogs): Management of pain and inflammation due to osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions; may also reduce fever.

• Indication (Other Species): Do not use in cats – repeated use of meloxicam in cats has been associated with acute renal failure and death.

• Feline Safety: Not for use in cats. Even a single repeated oral or injectable dose can be fatal.

• Use Only Under Vet Supervision: Complete physical exam and baseline lab work recommended prior to initiation. Monitor for vomiting, diarrhea, appetite changes, lethargy, black/tarry stools, or changes in urination. Avoid use with other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, or potentially nephrotoxic medications.

• Contraindications/Cautions:

  • Do not use in dogs with known meloxicam hypersensitivity.

  • Avoid in dogs under 6 months, pregnant, breeding, or lactating dogs.

  • Use with caution in dogs with kidney, liver, or heart disease, bleeding disorders, or dehydration.

  • Not for human use; accidental ingestion in people requires immediate medical attention.

• Storage: Store at 68–77°F (20–25°C). Shake well before use.

• Regulatory: Prescription required; federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
