Meloxicam is a generic equivalent to Metacam, used for reducing pain and inflammation in animals. In dogs, it is primarily prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis. In cats, it is indicated for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with orthopedic surgery, ovariohysterectomy, and castration when administered prior to surgery. It may also be prescribed for calves, typically given orally.
