Lactated Ringer’s Injection, USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic electrolyte replacement solution containing isotonic concentrations of electrolytes in water for injection. It is used for parenteral replacement of extracellular fluid and electrolytes following trauma, blood loss, or surgery. This solution contains no bacteriostat, antimicrobial agent, or added buffer (except for pH adjustment) and is intended for single-dose intravenous administration. When smaller doses are required, the unused portion should be discarded.

• Contraindications/Cautions: Not for use in the treatment of lactic acidosis. Do not administer simultaneously with blood through the same set due to coagulation risk. Use with great care in patients with congestive heart failure, severe renal insufficiency, edema with sodium retention, hyperkalemia, metabolic or respiratory alkalosis, hepatic insufficiency, or potassium retention. Risk of fluid/solute overload exists—monitor closely.

• Storage: Store at controlled room temperature; do not use if solution is discolored or container is damaged. Discard unused portion.

• Regulatory: Prescription required; federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
