Heartgard Plus is a monthly oral chewable for dogs that prevents canine heartworm disease by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) acquired in the previous month. It also provides treatment and control of roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) and hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma braziliense). This beef-flavored soft chew is highly palatable, making it easy to administer as a treat or with food.

Active Ingredients (per chewable): Ivermectin 136 mcg, Pyrantel 114 mg.

Dosing & Administration: Administer orally once a month at the recommended minimum dosage of 6 mcg ivermectin per kg (2.72 mcg per lb.) and 5 mg pyrantel per kg (2.27 mg per lb.) of body weight. For dogs weighing 26–50 lbs., give one green chewable containing 136 mcg ivermectin and 114 mg pyrantel. Dogs over 100 lbs. should be given the appropriate combination of chewables. Ensure the dog consumes the entire dose.

Storage & Handling: Store at 68–77°F; excursions permitted between 59–86°F. Protect product from light.

Cautions/Warnings: Federal (U.S.A.) law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. All dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections before starting Heartgard Plus. Not effective against adult D. immitis. Use with caution in Collies and other herding breeds sensitive to ivermectin at elevated doses. Reported adverse effects are rare but may include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or hypersalivation.
