Felimazole (methimazole) coated tablets are used for the treatment of hyperthyroidism in cats, a condition commonly diagnosed in senior cats. Feline hyperthyroidism results from excess production of thyroid hormone in the thyroid gland and can cause symptoms such as weight loss, increased thirst and urination, vomiting, and excess activity. This medication helps regulate thyroid hormone levels, improving your cat’s quality of life.

• Indication (Cats): Treatment of hyperthyroidism caused by an overactive thyroid gland.

• Feline Safety: Not for use in cats with hypersensitivity to methimazole, carbimazole, or polyethylene glycol; in cats with primary liver disease, renal failure, autoimmune disease, hematological disorders, coagulopathies, or in pregnant/lactating queens.

• Use Only Under Vet Supervision: Always follow veterinarian’s dosing instructions. Initial dose is typically 2.5 mg every 12 hours, with adjustments based on serum total T4 levels and clinical response.

• Contraindications/Cautions: Methimazole is a human teratogen. Pregnant or nursing women should wear gloves when handling tablets, litter, or bodily fluids of treated cats. Methimazole may cause vomiting, gastric distress, headache, fever, joint pain, itching, and pancytopenia.
