Doxycycline hyclate is a broad-spectrum antibiotic synthetically derived from oxytetracycline. It is used in veterinary medicine to treat kennel cough, respiratory tract infections, blood-borne pathogens such as Lyme disease, Ehrlichia canis, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and other bacterial and respiratory pathogens. It may also be used in conjunction with heartworm treatment. Suitable for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and small animals.

• Indication (Dogs, Cats, Birds, Reptiles, Small Animals): Used to treat kennel cough, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia canis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, respiratory tract infections, and other bacterial diseases; may be given in conjunction with heartworm treatments.

• Feline Safety: Always give cats at least one teaspoon of water immediately after dosing to prevent esophageal damage; flavored water such as tuna water may be offered.

• Contraindications/Cautions: Do not use in animals hypersensitive to tetracyclines. Avoid use during the first half of pregnancy; during the second half, use only if benefits outweigh risks, as it can affect skeletal development and tooth color in unborn animals. Use caution with certain vitamins, supplements, oral antacids, iron, Pepto-Bismol, Kaopectate, digoxin, theophylline, warfarin, or insulin due to potential interactions. May cause false urine glucose readings.

• Use Only Under Vet Supervision: Complete the full course as prescribed even if symptoms improve. Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, photosensitivity (skin blisters/pustules), and in rare cases, allergic reactions such as swelling, hives, diarrhea, vomiting, shock, seizures, or coma—seek immediate veterinary care if these occur.

• Storage: Store at room temperature (60°F–86°F), in a tightly closed container, protected from light, heat, and moisture.

• Regulatory: Prescription required; federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
