Rimadyl (carprofen) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used in dogs for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of postoperative pain associated with soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries.

• Adverse Reactions: Most common include gastrointestinal signs (vomiting, diarrhea, appetite changes). Rare but serious adverse reactions may include jaundice, lethargy, incoordination, seizures, or behavioral changes. Severe reactions, including death, can occur without warning. Discontinue use and contact veterinarian immediately if signs of intolerance occur.

• Directions: Administer orally at 2 mg per lb. of body weight daily (either as a single 2 mg/lb. dose once daily or divided as 1 mg/lb. twice daily). For postoperative pain, administer approximately 2 hours before surgery. Caplets are scored for half-caplet dosing. Ensure dog consumes full dose.

• Ingredients: Carprofen 75 mg (per caplet).

• Storage: Store at 59–86°F (15–30°C).

• Regulatory: Prescription required; federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
