Lidocaine Hydrochloride Injection 2% is a potent local anesthetic used in multiple animal species to provide epidural and nerve conduction anesthesia. This injectable formulation is effective for numbing areas prior to surgical procedures or wound suturing and can also be used under veterinary supervision for treating certain irregular heart rhythms. • Class: Local anesthetic.

• Indication (Dogs, Cats, Horses, Cattle):

  • Epidural anesthesia: Cattle and horses – 5 to 15 mL; dogs and cats – 1 mL per 10 lbs. body weight.

  • Nerve block anesthesia: Cattle and horses – 5 to 20 mL.

  • May also be used to manage certain types of cardiac arrhythmias under veterinary supervision.

• Use Only Under Vet Supervision: Dosage, technique, and route of administration should be determined by a licensed veterinarian. Incorrect administration may result in serious complications.

• Contraindications/Cautions: Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Generally well tolerated; however, adverse effects may occur due to hypersensitivity, faulty technique, overdosage, or inadvertent intravascular or subarachnoid injection. In the event of respiratory arrest, immediate resuscitation with oxygen is required.

• Storage: Store at controlled room temperature 59–86°F.

• Regulatory: Prescription required; federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
