Lactated Ringer’s Injection 5% Dextrose, USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic electrolyte replacement solution containing isotonic concentrations of electrolytes with 5% dextrose in water for injection. This solution is administered by intravenous infusion for parenteral replacement of extracellular fluid and electrolytes while providing minimal carbohydrate calories. Commonly used after trauma, blood loss, or surgery, it helps restore fluid balance, support metabolic needs, and maintain hydration in veterinary patients under controlled conditions.

Contraindications/Cautions: Solutions containing dextrose may be contraindicated in patients with known allergy to corn or corn products. Use with great caution in patients with congestive heart failure, severe renal insufficiency, edema with sodium retention, hyperkalemia, metabolic or respiratory alkalosis, hepatic insufficiency, or potassium retention. Do not administer simultaneously with blood through the same set due to coagulation risk. Risk of fluid/solute overload exists—monitor closely. Not for use in the treatment of lactic acidosis. Exercise caution in pregnant or pediatric patients; monitor glucose closely in neonates and low birth weight infants.

Storage: Store at controlled room temperature 59–86°F. Discard unused portion; do not use if solution is discolored or container is damaged.
